Nutella Mocha Cocktail

Nutella Mocha Cocktail

As December approaches, we want to kick up the cozy holiday spirit with a Nutella Mocha Cocktail. This “grown-up” hot chocolate features rich chocolate-hazelnut flavors, a toasty splash of hazelnut liqueur and airy espresso whipped cream. It is refined enough to be served at a holiday cocktail party, but inviting enough to sip on while curled up by the fire on a snowy day.

Our Civilized Coffee Espresso Powder creates a perfectly balanced coffee flavor in the home-made cream. So throw on your favorite cozy sweater and whip up this must-have holiday cocktail ASAP! The smooth, nutty chocolate flavors and fluffy espresso whipped cream will not disappoint.

Nutella Mocha Cocktail

YIELD: 4 Cocktails | Total Time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 teaspoons Civilized Coffee Espresso Powder

  • 4 cups whole milk

  • 1/4 cup Nutella, or other chocolate-hazelnut spread

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 6 oz. hazelnut liqueur

  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled

  • 1/4 cup confectioner’s sugar

  • 1/4 cup toasted hazelnuts, chopped, for garnish

  • toasted coconut flakes, for garnish

  • chocolate curls, for garnish

RECIPE

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring the milk, chocolate-hazelnut spread and salt to a simmer. Stir until the spread is completely dissolved. Taste for flavor and add more chocolate-hazelnut spread, if desired.

  2. Stir in hazelnut liqueur and remove from heat.

  3. In a separate large bowl, whip together the heavy cream, confectioner’s sugar and Civilized Coffee Espresso Powder until stiff peaks form to create whipped topping. It should be light and airy. Be sure not to overwhip!

  4. Ladle the drink from the saucepan into cups for serving and top with a big spoonful of whipped cream.

  5. Garnish to your hearts content! We recommend topping the drink with toasted hazelnuts, coconut flakes, chocolate curls, espresso powder, or even some cinnamon.

  6. Enjoy!
